Industries

Built for small teams in regulated work.

Built for small gyms and workshops first, now also used by landlords, vehicle fleet operators, fire safety teams and HR for staff certificate tracking. See which industry overview fits your operation.

Ample Control was built for small operations where someone is personally responsible for a list of assets, a stack of certificates and a calendar full of checks. We started in small gyms and workshops because the pattern there is so concrete — real equipment, real safety implications, real consequences when something is missed. The same underlying system has turned out to suit landlords managing rental compliance, fleet operators tracking MOTs and walkaround checks, fire safety leads keeping inspection records, and HR teams tracking staff certifications.

Underneath, every industry uses the same four building blocks: assets (the thing you care about), documents (the certificates, manuals and policies attached to it), reminders (when the next thing is due), and checks (the repeating inspections and walkarounds you do to keep it safe). The industry pages below show how those building blocks combine for each kind of business, with specific examples of records to track.

If you don't see your industry yet

We focus on industries where small teams already have a clear pattern of assets, recurring checks and renewal dates. That covers most trades and premises-led businesses, but it isn't every business. Community spaces, schools, places of worship, holiday lets, salons, clinics and small charities all tend to fit well — the underlying workflow is the same as the industries above.

If your setup looks like "we have a load of equipment / documents / certificates / dates spread across spreadsheets and we want them in one place", Ample Control will probably feel familiar. The fastest way to find out is to start on the Free plan, add five representative assets, and see whether the workflow clicks.

A note on regulatory wording

Across these pages we reference UK record categories — Gas Safe (CP12), EICR, EPC, PAT testing, MOT, RIDDOR reporting, PUWER inspections, fire risk assessment evidence and more — because they're the specific things small businesses need to keep on file. Ample Control helps you store those records, remind you before they expire and keep them organised in one place. It does not replace inspections, qualified engineers, fire risk assessors or legal advice, and we're careful not to imply that it does. Compliance itself stays your team's responsibility; we just remove the admin friction around it.

Common questions across industries

A few questions come up no matter which industry you're in, so it's worth answering them here rather than repeating them on every page.

"Do we need a tool just for this?" Not strictly. Plenty of small teams manage a handful of assets on a spreadsheet for years. The tipping point usually arrives when (a) the number of certificates passes what one person can remember, (b) more than one person needs to update records, or (c) an insurer or inspector asks for a tidy export and you realise you can't produce one in less than half a day.

"What if our records are currently a mess?" That's the normal starting point, not a problem. You don't have to migrate everything before you start using Ample Control — add your most critical assets first, attach the documents you can find quickly, set the reminders that matter, and back-fill the rest at your own pace. Most teams are usable in a week and tidy in a month.

"What about offline use on a site with no signal?" The mobile PWA caches recently opened assets and check templates so you can still complete a check in a shed, basement, lift room or carpark with no signal. Anything you submit syncs automatically when you're back online.

"Can we customise the records to our specific industry?" Within sensible limits, yes. Each asset can have custom fields, each checklist is a template you define, and document categories are yours to name. You won't get an unlimited form builder, but you won't be forced into someone else's terminology either.

Pair with the right use case

Each industry overview links out to the specific use-case guides most relevant to it. For a faster route, the gym equipment maintenance and workshop equipment maintenance guides describe the most general "assets plus recurring service plus safety check" pattern; certificate renewal tracking is the cleanest place to start if your main pain is documents and expiry dates.
